Here is the revised imprint for the Sierra Socks line. As you can see it is much improved from the previous sample. (see white sock below) The proportions and details are outstanding. We are very very close to going to production for our sock buying marathon. Stay tuned!

Hello Friends, I just received the samples with the smaller logo in green. They have been forwarded to Sierra Club for review. As you can see from the sample below, the logo on the socks would be smaller than what was on the earlier prototypes. It does not look as clunky. By reducing the logo and printing it on the sock we can get greater detail on the actual logo. Having woven the Sierra Club logo into the first set of samples, we quickly saw that there was not enough logo detail in that method. We will probably go with the smaller printed logo in green or the letters woven as shown in blue sock below. Send me an email and let me know what you think works better. dr@devmir.com
Also, please sign up for our mailing ist and for our sock buying marathon, (looks like November I will post more info as soon as I know for sure). We're serious about changing the world one sock at a time. Join us!

Here they are... these are the cushion crew and the cushion shorties. They are made from a carefully selected wool blend. Notice the Sierra Club name on the navy sock. It's simple and clean. More are on the way.

Hi folks, here's my sock diary entry for today... I just got off the phone with my good friends at Sierra Club and they really liked the sock prototypes. We will have to rework the logo treatment and possibly just use the words "Sierra Club" in a clean typestyle - making it a bit smaller than what you see below. I know what some of you are thinking. "Get a life Diogenes! ...keeping a sock diary"? Hey, it's a 100 year old brand, we're not just making socks here - were making a little bit of history...got to do it right. For those of you who share my disfunctionality, I will try to post pictures of some of the other prototypes in a few days.

The prototypes are coming in and they look and feel great. This is a half cushion sole ped with mesh for better air circulation and dryer feet. We should have more new pictures up in the next few days. If you haven't signed up to be on our mailing list or participate in our sock buying marathon, please do so. We don't want you to miss anything. Those of you who have already signed up, I just want to say thanks. We need everyone's help to reach our goal of selling a million pair of socks. (the date will be announced shortly right here).

Look what I found growing in my garden... actually this is one of the prototypes of the Men's Crew Sierra Club Socks in charcoal. While we are waiting for the rest of the line, I thought I would share this with you. One of the coolest things about bamboo is its natural antibacterial properties. No chemicals are added for this - it is part of bamboo's inherent natural properties. Because of this, it does not wash out, even after 50 industrial wash cycles.
If you think about this another way, it means that you could go a little longer without washing a bamboo sock because the accumulation of bacteria is what causes stinky sock syndrome. Think of it as a water saving, germ fighting, anti-stinky feet super sock.

Today, I received samples for the bamboo Sierra Club Socks in the men's program. They felt wonderful. Bamboo has a soft and very comfortable feel. We are eagerly waiting for the women's samples and the prototypes of the men and women's cushioned socks. Hopefully, they will be just as good as the prototypes I received today.
After we receive the remaining prototype samples, we will send them to Sierra Club for review and final approval. We think they will be pleased.
Also - please keep your comments and ideas coming. Some of your are quite creative and I am enjoying your emails with ideas for future style in the Sierra Sock line.

I've received some very encouraging emails from folks and it prompted me to post this update page to let you know what is going on. The last thing I ever thought was that I would be excited about socks - but this is different, it's not just about a sock, it's about something much bigger. Bigger than you or me. It may sound a bit corny and I don't have a foot fetish, but it's a way to make a real difference in the world. As we work our way through the development of the Sierra Club sock line, I want to keep you in the loop. Basically, we will get one shot at the sock buying marathon and I hope that you will help make it a success. (we will announce the date here) One Day One Million pair of socks and we will be able to start to change the manufacturing world as we know it, by making it cleaner, more socially responsible and more beneficial to organizations that really make a difference like the Sierra Club.
I am eagerly waiting for our first set of actual samples and will let you know how they turn out.
Please check in regularly and get your circle of influence involved as well - Help me change the world one sock at a time!
